€urovisions in Berlin
We have the pleasure to announce a new opportunity for €urovisions. This week in Berlin. TRANSLATING WORLDS Media make the world go round. The media play a key role in defining what we say about each other, what we know about each other and how we talk and interact with each other. Predominantly, when it comes to conflicts like those in Ukraine, Syria, Gaza and elsewhere, but not only then. In a world in which everything is interconnected, foreign reporting is increasingly important. The more our trust in the established media fades, the more important it becomes for those doing the reporting to reflect on how our image of the world is created and their own role in this process. In short: What image of the world do the media convey? Who conveys it, and how? And what can journalism learn from other disciplines like translation, theatre and media sciences? To find answers to these and other questions the n-ost media conference TRANSLATING WORLDS is bringing together approx. 120 correspondents and editors from the EU, the countries of the Eastern Partnership and other post-Soviet states. For two and a half days they will gather in Berlin to talk, reflect, raise questions and debate. Thursday, 19 November Re-mixing of media as a method to re-view, re-investigate and re-consider prevailing imagery of migrants in European societies: €urovisions takes you on a trip in Europe and the homelands of newcomers: Travelling, migrants, nomads, tourists and souvenirs areguiding you through time and history. €urovisions remixes live cinema and documentary techniques (multiscreen, live music, audiovisual actionism, sampling and cutups) into an audiovisual performance. €urovisions is the second live cinema performance by European Souvenirs, an international collective of young artists from different European countries: Farah Rahman (the Netherlands), Karol Rakowski (Poland), Noriko Okaku (UK) and Malaventura (Spain). |
